Summer Projects

One reason I’m really glad for the summer, is that now I have time to work on the many knitting projects that I wasn’t able to do during the semester!

I’m currently 1/3 of the way through knitting a baby blanket for my nephew CJ, who will be born sometime soon! My sister-in-law’s due date is early July, so hopefully I can finish the blanket before he’s born. The pattern I’m using is the “Take-Me-Home Swaddle Blanket” from The Expectant Knitter by Marie Connolly. If I have time, I’ll also knit matching shoes and a kimono shirt. I bought three colors of the same yarn: blue, yellow, and green. The blanket is blue and yellow (although the yellow sort of overpowers the blue), and I want the shirt to be blue and green, and the shoes green and yellow (or green and blue, depending on how much yarn is left). The yarn I’m using is Sirdar Snuggly DK. It’s a very soft nylon/acrylic yarn, washable.

After I finish the blanket, shirt, and shoes for CJ, I have more baby things to knit! One of my friends from college (who was one of my bridesmaids) is expecting a baby, but we’re still waiting to hear if it’s a boy or girl, so hopefully I still have some time to knit something for her baby!

Then, next on my docket is knitting some small items to sell at my church’s Holiday Craft Fair in December.

Lots to do!
